Lack of information for residents regarding resources and opportunities to help people. Old RP helped limit this isolation because people knew each other more closely and were all in similar situations. Now, the more significant challenges are that residents are from different places and finding resources for individuals is more challenging because we don't know if a resource would help someone. After all, we don't know if they qualify for the resources or fit the demographics.
Due to it being mixed with so many different classes, a sense of 'we're all in the same boat" isn't seen as much.

Some problems continue today, especially the impact of poverty on residents. Accessing good jobs, mental health support, and opportunities is still tricky. In old Regent Park, there was a sense of community and "being in the same boat." Wealth disparity is even worse now with the new residents, further stigmatizing poverty and making it more noticeable.

Many great stories exist in the neighbourhood of people who came here with nothing but built so much. He struggles to adjust to the winter weather.

RP has medical resources ensuring a high quality of life; diversity makes people feel like they belong, including from their community. The fusion of culture makes Regent Park so attractive and special.

The best resource is a community (mentor and support you, help access services, advocate for you). It's one of the best ways to support newcomers

The air quality was visibly different. The food was different, with many preservatives.

Challenges associated with integration include finding friends, and community, getting involved with the community, finding mentors, and navigating careers. But some great people will help you and make your experience better.

Many Sudanese individuals have found themselves in Canada as a result of refugee immigration. As a result of the second Sudanese civil war, fleeing sexual assault, and personal assault, amongst other reasons. As a result of the International Organization for Migration, many Sudanese individuals found themselves settling down in Canada. In 2016, the Sudanese immigrant population accounted for just over 50% of Canadian immigration that year (IOM Sudan Resettles 1,750 Refugees to Canada, 2016).
